Characterization Through Movement

Students will have the opportunity to get out of their heads and into their bodies, using a series of exercises passed down from Russia's Moscow Art Theatre's movement coach Andrei Droznin. Droznin's focus is two-fold: break down social barriers that define what's acceptable when working physically with a partner, and wake up the muscles in your body you don't use on a day to day basis to allow for a complete physical transformation when playing a character. In our class, you'll learn to walk like animals, create dynamic poses using shared body weight, and build a vocabulary of movement that can be applied to storytelling. We'll incorporate that movement vocabulary into scenes from contemporary plays and explore all the different ways to tell story without words.

Please wear clothing that allows for a full range of motion (no jeans) and bring plenty of water!

Cost $125.00
